Emma’s name appears in different forms in different places. The name recorded in family records is “Emma,” while the 1861 census records her as “Emerilla”44 and the 1871 census as “Emley.”45

Thomas Henry Lougheed (Sr.) and Emma Wilson appear to have arrived in Manitoba sometime between 1880 and 1886. Erastus Hillyard Lougheed’s death in 1886 is recorded in the Manitoba Vital Events Record, but his birth is not, nor is the marriage or birth of either parent.
