Military notes for Edward Arthur Dymoke Parry
Prior to 1914, served in the Somerset Light Infantry of the British Army and the 50th Regiment (Gordon Highlanders) in Canada.

Enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force at Valcartier, Quebec on 23 September 1914; assigned regimental number 28665. Served in the 16th Canadian Battalion (Canadian Scottish). Discharged 5 May 1915 at London, as he had an appointment to a temporary commission in the British Army’s The Duke of Edinburgh’s (Wiltshire Regiment).82

Commissioned a Second Lieutenant in The Duke of Edinburgh’s (Wiltshire Regiment) on 31 May 1915 and relinquished the commission on 8 March 1920. Awarded the Military Cross on 1 January 1918 (Gazetted 7 February 1918).87 Spent time with the 5th (Service) Regiment, and time in both Mesopotamia and India (unclear if this was with the 5th Wilts, as they don’t appear to have ever served in India). Military records from the UK have been ordered.
