Notes for Jane Lougheed
A couple of points of interest about Jane:
- In the 1891 Census, Jane was a widow living with her son James Simeon Joyce and daughter Sarah. THe birthplace of her mother is gives as U.S.A. and of Irish descent. However, in the same census, the birthplace of the moth of Jane’s brother Allen is given as Ireland. One of the entries has to be wrong, but which?
- According to Jane’s death certificate, she was born in England. This is likely an error, but if not, why was her mother in England at the time? Was James there as well? And what about the other children, at least the younger ones? If Jane’s mother died in England, it would explain why we cannot find her grave in Canada!
