Her granddaughter Catherine Jean Reoch remembers her as a sweet lady, and especially for her fried potatoes and pumpkin pie. She attended church faithfully, as well as Sunday school.

The three sons all learned an Indian language before English, due to living on the reserve where Thomas taught.
