Notes for George David Lougheed
George graduated in medicine from the University of Victoria College, Cobourg, Ontario in 1868 and established a practice in the village of Bright, Oxford County. In October 1871 Dr. and Mrs. Lougheed moved to Petrolia in Lambton County where in June 1872 he was appointed an associate coroner for Lambton County.

In 1877 George was the president of the Liberal-Conservative Associate of Petrolia. He was also actively involved in the oil business in Petrolia.

Following the death of his father in 1882, his mother lived with George and Lavanche until her death. George sold his residence in Petrolia in October 1895 and they went to Los Angeles, California, USA. Over the next 24 years the couple lived principally in California, although there were times when they returned to Canada and Dr. Lougheed resumed the practice of medicine there for brief periods.

The couple left California for the last time in the summer of 1919 and subsequently settled in Strathroy, Ontario.
