In the 2 January 1904 issue of the Toronto Globe & Mail has the following notice on page 24 under the heading “married”:

“MENCKE - LOUGHEED - At Holy Trinity Church, Welland, by Rev. Gabriel Johnston, D.D., John Richard Mencke, M.D., of Bridgeburg [later Fort Erie] to Lucy, third daughter of the late Thos. Lougheed of Thornbury, Ont.”
