Daniel was a farmer who lived on the fourth line of Euphrasia Township, two miles north of Kimerley. One night Daniel stayed in the barn as they were expecting a colt. He fell asleep and knocked over a lantern. The fire from this spread quickly, and Daniel and his son David just escaped with their lives. Daniel died soon after.

Because of their early deaths, most of Daniel and Eliza’s children were raised by others.
