Gísli had incestuous relationships with two of his sisters, Kristín and Þórdís. When they were found out, the three fled to the Skálholt Cathedral, as the punishment for incest was execution. Gísli’s brother Oddur was chief steward at Skálholt, and it appears that Bishop Gísli Jónsson helped them out. The exact outcome for Gísli is unknown, but Kristín ultimately ended up marrying the Bishop.
