Transcription of William’s headstone/monument:
In Memory of William Hargreaves
Born December 18th 1817
Died February 6th 1875
This monument was erected by the workmen employed at the Rawmarsh and Warren Vale Collieries of which the deceased was manager for a period of 22 years in that position he was held in the highest respect and esteem for the great care and anxiety shown in regard for the health and preservation of the lives of those under his charge. His excellent abilities will long cause him to be remembered whilst his loss is extremely lamented by his fellow workmen.
