In the 1861 census, there is a niece of Charles and Martha’s present with the recorded last name of ‘Dimack.’ As well, baptism records for Charles and Martha’s children indicated that one of their sons (John) has a middle name of Dimock. And, finally, a Charles James Herbert and a Martha Elizabeth Dimock were married in Uppingham, Rutland (where there is also a baptism record for Martha Elizabeth Dimock) shortly before Charles and Martha’s daughter Maria was born. This makes it likely that the Martha Elizabeth listed in the census and the children’s baptism records is this same Martha Elizabeth Dimock.
