Notes for David Lougheed
In the 1852 census for Albion, David’s occupation is given as “weaving”. At the time he was listed with his parents. In the 1871 Albion Census he is also describes as a weaver, but Mrs. Boyd said “David was a cabinet-maker and furniture mover. Later moved with his family to Winnipeg.”

From a newspaper account [name unknwon - 12 July 1878 - p2, c6] is the following:

“Mr. David Lougheed, cabinet maker. Mr. Lougheed established himself is Caledon East about two and one half years ago. He has since done a prosperous business, orders are constantly received and Mr. Lougheed is kept very busy supplying the numerous demands. Everything from a broom handle to a beautiful bureau is to be found in this well stocked and complete establishment, and the taste, execution, and handsome finish of several articles would do credit to an establishment of higher pretensions than Mr. Lougheed’s. Mr. Lougheed is by birth an Irishman but he emigrated at so early a period of his existence that he doesn’t remember the event.”

In an account of the career of his nephew, Dr. R. J. Lougheed of 1907, David was then a retired businessman living in Toronto.
Notes for David & Susan (Family)
According to Mrs. James Boyd in her interview for Perkins Bull, David married Lizzie Bird. If this is true, she must have been his second wife as the Albion Township Censis returns for 1861 and 1871 give his wife’s name as Susan. It is, of course, possible that her name was Susan Elizabeth Bird.

The children listed are given as they appear in the census returns. Mrs. Boyd gives the children’s names as follows with no dates: Jane - Winnipeg; Robert - Winnipeg; David Jr. - Winnipeg; Alfred - USA; John - Toronto; Robert; Margaret; Elizabeth. There are obvious discrepancies.
